Jamrock Again

Leaving Grantley Adams International Airport

Day 1
I woke up early on Thursday morning with butterflies in my stomach. In just a few hours I would be on a plane headed to Jamaica for my Interac interview. I double checked that I had packed the most important documents especially the display I had created for my demo lesson. I definitely couldn’t leave without that.

The drive to the airport was uneventful. I’ve flown so many times now that it’s all pretty routine. Other than a little hiccup with immigration involving my belt and a zip lock bag everything was fine. I was pleased to find out that my flight would be less than half full. In fact I ended up being the only one in my entire row, which meant comfort. I could stretch out and relax for the next 3 hours.

My hotel in Kingston, Jamaica
I landed in Jamaica to find that a lot of things, especially the airport, have changed over the last five years. I stayed at a small hotel in Kingston, which was just a 5 minute walk from the seminar. The small room was more than adequate for my use and the staff was very friendly. Continue reading

+ Eating red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting that I baked myself. I think I did a really nice job since baking is not my strong point.

+ Struggling to finish Villette by Charlotte Bronte. I do love the French thrown in here and there and the story is interesting enough but it makes me so sleepy.

+ Trying not to stress (and failing miserably) over my upcoming interview with Interac America.

+ Trying to figure out how fast I can get my driver’s licence. I’ve procrastinated A LOT on that one.

+ Lusting after Alexander Wang’s Spring 2012 collection. Can I have it all?

Christmas Gift Guide 2011

It’s my favourite time of the year! I just love everything about Christmas – the celebration of the birth of our Saviour, the way people seem to be happier, and of course, all of those wonderful Christmas songs.

The tree has been decorated and the house is full of Christmas cheer. The only thing left to do is sort out gifts. I’m sticking to a budget this year, which led to me to discover lots of items that cost less than US$50.00. These would make great gifts for my friends, and I wouldn’t mind if someone gave me them either.

Drop The Lights

Drop Light by DOOlight
When I was 14 I considered becoming an interior decorator but my life went down a different path, which is something that I occasionally regret. So I take great joy in decorating this little space that I share with my family and I’m always scouring the internet for cool and unique items.

Drop Light by DOOlight
My latest discovery is the Drop Light by DOOlight. The drop lights are actually rechargeable and are attached to a “flower base”. They can be placed anywhere around the house that needs to be lighted.

The drop lights are most certainly unique, modern and a refreshing take on interior lighting.

Lust List: Alexander McQueen Skull Clasp Clutch

Alexander McQueen skull clasp clutches
Everyone has a bucket list. A life list. You know, that list of things they want to do before they die. I have one of those but like any serious fashionista I also have a lust list. My lust list is about the material things I would love to own before I die. Shallow? Of course. But that’s not going to stop me. I am smart and I work hard and every now and then I like to reward myself.
Alexander McQueen skull clasp clutch
First up on my lust list is the first of many Alexander McQueen items I dream of owning. The Skull Clasp Clutch. McQueen is known for its use of skulls in prints and jewellery so it was a given to have these cute little clutches adorned with the signature skull.
